June’s Yves Saint Laurent ‘Baby Doll’ Kiss and Blush Review

The Yves Saint Laurent ‘Baby Doll’ Kiss and Blush is one of my staple makeup essentials and in fact I always keep a spare in my handbag at all times.

A cream blush is by far the kindest of products to use especially in our Fifties, it adds a healthy glow without the risk of sinking into dare I say any of our fine lines and Yes I do have them.

And, with the added bonus of having a matte finish.

Product Overview

The Product:  YSL ‘Baby Doll’ Kiss and Blush

Where I Purchased From:  Debenhams Department Store UK
Other Places to Purchase From:  Amazon
Price I Paid:  £29 ($37 approx.) for 10ml
My Rating:  10/10 plus

Again, as with all YSL makeup and skincare products I would most definitely say that it’s extremely good value for money.  Think long term, the ‘Baby Doll’ Kiss and Blush just keeps on delivering with every application and you will be amazed at just how much you can get from a small container.

I purchase one a year, Yes, you did hear right, that’s with using it every day.

The Gorgeous Packaging

Well, as you would expect from Yves Saint Laurent, the packaging is very stylish, luxurious & Contemporary, and fits neatly into any handbag.

You would be forgiven for thinking that it looks very similar to a nail varnish but of course the lid gives it away and name suggests otherwise.

I love the YSL logo on the top of the lid, no doubt I may be accused of being a little shallow or materialistic but I make no apologies for just being a girl at heart.

My Top tips For Application

My approach is to use small blobs around the cheek area and along the cheek bone, then use your ring finger, (this choice of finger means that the correct level of pressure is applied), to blend in.  Please remember not too much working of the pressure, you don’t want to rub it off altogether.   Just make sure that you get rid of the excess onto a tissue before applying, you don’t want to look like a toy doll.

Another little trick, (my college training), is to smile whilst applying as this exposes  the hollows of the cheek and makes for a faultless finish.

Take a peak at my How to look younger post to give you a helping hand 🙂

The “Blush”

The finish that you are looking to achieve is a nice healthy glow but at the same time some definition and shading also.

Just think about your shade choice, take into consideration your skin tone, hair colour and the overall makeup look you are aiming to achieve before making your final selection.

You may like to try more than one shade to alternate with.

Another little tip of mine is to add a little just under the eye brow and along the brow bone, it does seem to add a touch of drama making those eyes pop with a burst of colour.  Again not too much though and remember to blend in with the ring finger.

There a Choice of 12 Shades

The “Kiss”

Have at go at applying the ‘Baby Doll’ to your lips, just remember though it is a matte finish and cannot expect it to deliver on shine but it will compliment your cheeks nicely.

I would outline the outer edges of the lips and fill in after and for more depth of colour apply a Red Lipstick or my absolute favourite YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in Le Orange 13 for added glamour.

Have FUN and look glamorous with the ‘Baby Doll’ Kiss and Blush, I know that I do.

I Would love to hear your thoughts about this review and please take a look at my website, I am always happy to help where I can, so please get in touch with any questions.
