I have been using Clarins Cleansers for many years now, they are kind and gentle without drying out those delicate cheek areas on the face.  I would say whole heartedly that Clarins skincare is a brand you can trust at 50 and over, or indeed at any age.

Clarins skincare

Over the years, I have tried and tested many cleansers, but I keep going back to my Clarins Cleansing Milk.

I’m most definitely a fan of Cleansing Milks rather than a foam based product, mainly due to my cheeks becoming a little more sensitive to dryness, no doubt all down to the Menopause, oh the joy 😉  It does tend to control my T’Zone also.

My confidence in my regular cleanser has lead me to look into other Clarins products, I have put my Beauty Therapist head on, and I’ve put to the test 5 products.

Now then, in addition to my gorgeous Clarins Milk Cleanser and Clarins Moisture Rich Body Lotion, I have three other Clarins skincare products to tell you about,  thanks indeed to a very kind Clarins Consultant working in the Debenhams Store in Sheffield City Centre who gave me some samples to take home and test out, after I made only two purchases, I was also given a very nice beach bag,  I just need the beach now;)

Here Are My Top 5 Clarins Products to Look Out For:

  1. Clarins Lait Démaquillant Velours Gentiane, Moringa (Cleansing Milk Gentian, Moringa Anti-Pollution Combination or Oily Skin). A.K.A – Clarins Cleansing Milk
  2. Clarins Baume Corps Super Hydratant (Moisture-Rich Body Lotion with Shea Butter for Dry skin)
  3. Clarins Super Restorative Night Age Spot correcting Replenishing Cream
  4. Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye concentrate Lifts, Replenishes Illuminise
  5. Clarins Double Serum

1. Clarins Cleansing Milk

Clarins Cleansing Milk

To quote “Rich in Plant extracts, this creamy milk cleanser removes makeup and purifies the skin” and yes I would agree with that, it most certainly does what it says, a BIG plus for me.

The creamy consistency feels very gentle on the face and leaves no grease or residue behind, just smooth feeling skin.

It is for combination to oily skin, my skin type is definitely more combination now thanks to the Menopause.

I have a little sensitivity, (especially my eyes), to certain products and I have to say that I’ve never experienced any problems whatsoever with this Cleanser.

I would apply a good ‘splodge’ of Clarins Cleanser onto the palm of your hand.  Now, gently rub your hands together, then starting on your neck in an upward stroke apply onto the chin, cheeks upto the forehead, circle around each eye towards the nose, down the nose and back onto the chin, then using either two damp cotton wool pads or a face cloth, remove the cleanser completely.

Because I can be a little lazy in nature I tend to use the cleanser to remove my eye make up, by smearing it over my closed eye lids and gently rubbing into my lashes, it takes everything off with such ease and no reaction at all.

2. Clarins Moisture Rich Body Lotion

Clarins Rich Body Lotion

Again to quote “For dry and very dry skin.  Nourishes, moisturises and visibly smoothes. Skin is softer, firmer, more supple” sounds very accurate to me.

My Summer would not be complete without this product especially whilst trying to preserve a tan.  I’ve found that with age, the skin on my arms and legs does appear to dry out very quickly now, needing something a little more heavy duty without slipping and feeling slimy after using a body lotion.

A real plus for me with the Clarins Rich Body Lotion is that it is available in a 200ml tube, which means it last a good length of time. More importantly, you only need just a small amount applied after a shower or bath all over your body.  Don’t make the mistake of plastering it on because it just is unnecessary, it will be a waste, less is more with this product and the results are immediate.

3. Clarins Super Restorative Night Age Spot Correcting Replenishing cream

Clarins Age Spot Correcter

Another quote “Replenishes the skin at all levels.  Visible lifts. Helps to fight against skin slackening.  Helps reduce the look of age spots and restore a more even complexion.  Provides long lasting moisturisation and nourishment.  Revives the skins radiance”.

I have used the Clarins Super Restorative Night cream on my right hand and have to say that it does look and feel smoother, my age spots do look less conspicuous.  I think I may have left it too long before using this product for my saggy skin though, time will tell, I will keep you up to date within a review.

It has a very pleasant smell and very light and creamy to use and dispurses straight away leaving no residue at all.

I like this product and will continue to test it out, I will at least have one model like hand to show off 😉

4. Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate

Clarins Eye Cream

Quoting “Highly effective eye care, rich in plant extract, which treats the entire eye zone from temple to temple.  Instantly lifts the eyelids.  Smoothes crows feet and deep wrinkles.  Replenishes the eye area.  Reduces the look of permanent dark circles and puffiness.  Illuminates the eyes, enhances beautiful lashes”, well if any one needed their dark circles and puffiness reducing then it’s definitely me, I just can’t sleep these days.

What is great about the Clarins Super Restorative Total Eye Concentrate is that it has a light creamy texture that has a substantial feel, giving the user complete product confidence and the knowledge that it will deliver and get the job done.

Let’s face it, we all want an eye cream to work immediately, I have to say that the delicate skin around my eyes did noticeably look brighter after one application and after several days a little smoother.

The only criticism that I have is that there is a little stickiness and a touch of residue left on my skin around the eyes but then again once my foundation was applied after it didn’t really matter, just more noticeable on my no makeup days.

Clarins Double Serum

Clarins Double Serum

You know the drill by now, yes quote first “Double Serum (Hydric +Lipdic System) Complete Age Control Concentrate. Powered by 20 pure plant extracts to boost radiance firmness and smoothness”.

Clarins Double Serum

As I have stated in my previous blogs, I do like and prefer Serum based moisturisers, for me, I love how they leave my skin feeling smooth, light and with no residue or stickiness.

I have very kindly been given four sachets to try out, I have used the Clarins Double Serum over the last 7 days, I’m impressed!

Quite cleverly there are two componants to this product, within my sachet are two compartments, to apply you fold the sachet down the middle, pull the tear off strip and blend both serums together in the palm of your hand then apply evenly all over the face.

One side is clear and the other has an orange tinge to it and they mixed together in seconds.

Once applied the Serum felt lovely, very light to the touch with no residue, stickiness or stain.

It does state that “you need to apply before a moisturiser” but to be honest I have used it on it’s own, (minimal amount of fuss for me), and my skin looks and feels great, very smooth.

Will I replace it from my YSL Forever Youth Liberator Serum? Too early to say yet.  I’m very loyal to my YSL and not ready to cheat, the results will have to be overwhelming I’m afraid 😉

Can You Trust Clarins

Absolutely!! I have found no errors or anything that would make me not want to use any of the products listed.

  1. Hi,
Thank you for great infos. I have some question for my wife. Her skin is dry, she couldn’t find a proper cream for her skin. Because she doesn’t like oily creams. She like to put a cream to absorb well in the skin. What do you recommend for her skin? She want to use it before sleep and in the morning.
I will be happy to know more about skin. Thank you for information.

    1. Hi Amir,

Your wife is a lucky lady to have a partner such as yourself 🙂

Thank you and really appreciate your great comments.

I must admit that I prefer Serums over creams, the YSL Forever Youth Liberator Serum is perfect and will help dry skin morning and night, most definitely helps my dry cheek area. Alternatively, the Clarins Double Serum is a great product to use and again morning and night if that’s your preference.

Another great product to use is YSL Forever Youth Liberator Night Cream, I’ve had a look at Debenhams online and it’s listed as £65 for 50 mil.

I hope that I have helped with your questions, please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything else that I can look into for you.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

      1. Hi again June,

Thank you for your kind reply, I would like to know more skin and skin care products. I’m a lucky person to have a wonderful wife.

I will look at to the products you have written for us and if I need some further information, without hesitation I will contact you.

        Enjoy your life
        Amir.

        1. Hi Amir,

How lovely of you to reply, thank you 🙂

You clearly have a wonderful relationship with your Wife, one to cherish and no doubt others could learn a thing or two.

Please do contact me again and in the meantime I will have a think about any other skincare products that will be of help.

By mixing Rose Water and glycerine you will get a very natural way of adding moisture to the skin, natural ingredients are always a great thing to try.

I wish Both Yourself and Your lovely Wife a fab week and good weekend.

Thank you again, made my day to have a reply.

          Best Wishes

  2. There is something about Clarins that has always intrigued me, perhaps it was their ads…

My 50th birthday is approaching in September; no matter how many times people may say I look younger than my age, my body sends both gentle and not-so-gentle reminders that it’s ageing. So I’ve been casually looking into getting back to a skincare regime. The Clarins Milk Cleanser and the Super Restorative Eye Concentrate are the two items that are of most interest to me.

    Great review!

    1. Hi Veronica,

I have to say that you do not look your age and clearly a lady of great taste that know a thing or two about looking glamorous 🙂

Our bodies do like to remind us once and a while that we need a little more attention hey! I know the feeling well!

The Clarins Milk cleanser is very gentle and leaves your skin feeling soft and silky. I’m prone to a little sensitivity and can hand on heart say that I have never had any problems with Clarins and especially the Milk cleanser, it’s gentle enough to remove your eye makeup at the same time too.

The Clarins Restorative Eye Concentrate had made a difference with my dark circles and baggy eyes, the eye concentrate does seem to illuminate the delicate skin around your eye and give off a healthy glow.

Clarins products are all designed by a skin can specialist, a Dr no less.

Enjoy your 50th Birthday in September and let me know if you do receive any Clarins products

      Have a great weekend

      All the best

      June
